Launching Maroofah service

In September 2019, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched a new service aimed at facilitating and reducing the cost of recruiting domestic workers, and this service is known as “Maroofah.”

Maroof is an electronic service that enables business owners and families to recruit domestic workers easily and at a lower cost than before.

To benefit from a well-known service, individuals and families must comply with some necessary conditions and procedures:

1. Provide specific information about the domestic worker to be recruited, such as her name, a copy of her passport, and her contact number.
2. Pay the visa fees.
3. Submit an application for a visa for the domestic worker.
4. Pay the electronic service fees.
5. Concluding an employment contract with the registered office.

There are general terms and conditions that must be taken into account when using a well-known service, including:

– Do not transfer the worker’s sponsorship until after notifying the concerned office.

– Reporting when the employer wishes to transfer the worker’s sponsorship.

The registered office does not bear responsibility for the worker’s late arrival if she does not adhere to the appointments.

The office does not bear responsibility for any violations that the worker may have or any delay in procedures.

– Inform the office if a final exit visa is issued to the worker to complete the necessary procedures.

The period of arrival of the recruited worker is estimated at 45 days, and if her arrival is delayed, the employer is granted an additional grace period of 15 days for one time after paying the full cost of recruitment.

The cost of recruitment is 8,850 Saudi riyals, and this amount includes recruitment fees and costs in addition to the travel ticket from the worker’s country of origin until her arrival in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Before paying the recruitment fees in full, the employer can download a form of the unified contract between him and the registered office to complete the contracting process. Payment is made electronically through the portal using a Mada, Visa or MasterCard card.
